Level of experience: Suitable for beginners as well as those who would like to develop their confidence in dyeing cellulose fibres. All materials, dyes and equipment will be provided – just bring your creativity and be prepared to get colourful.

DESCRIPTION:
You will learn how to transform beautiful Tencel yarn into your own unique collection of hand-dyed mini skeins.
During this practical workshop, you will explore the exciting possibilities of Procion MX fibre-reactive dyes, learning how colour, dye concentration and application techniques can be used to create a range of beautiful effects. You will be guided through the process step by step, from preparing the yarn and mixing dyes to applying colour and creating your own individual palette
AIMS OF WORKSHOP:
Students will learn:
How Procion MX dyes work on Tencel
How to prepare yarn for dyeing
Mixing and diluting dye colours
Using colour concentration to achieve different depths of shade
Techniques for applying colour to mini skeins
How to achieve more even and consistent results
Rinsing and caring for your finished hand-dyed yarn
You will leave with your own 100g collection of beautifully hand-dyed Tencel mini skeins and the knowledge and confidence to continue experimenting with Procion MX dyes at home.
TUTOR’S BACKGROUND:
Deby is an independent dyer, teacher and textile enthusiast based in the Vale of Evesham. She has been creating and dyeing luxury yarns and fibres for several years, with a particular passion for silk and silk-blend products.
Working from her small studio, Deby runs creative workshops and courses, sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm for colour, fibre and the art of hand-dyeing. A lifelong lover of textile crafts, she has been actively involved with the Association of Spinners, Weavers and Dyers and regularly attends yarn shows, where she showcases her range of luxurious hand-dyed silk yarns, fibres and blends.
