Time: 1pm – 3pm | Places available: 8 | Tutor: Kath Andrews – Kath Andrews Designs
Level of experience required: Students need to be able to confidently knit, purl, cast on and off and follow a written pattern. MUST BRING OWN NEEDLES.
REQUIREMENTS:
Students need to be able confidently knit, purl, cast on and off and follow a written pattern. YOU WILL NEED TO BRING 4mm or 4.5mm needles (straight or circular – bring 4.5mm if a tight knitter) and a pen or pencil.
DESCRIPTION:
You will learn about Stacked Stitches, which is a great technique invented by Xandy Peters. Knitting with stacked stitches, (staking increases or decreases on top of each other within the same row), creates amazing shapes and patterns to your knitting whilst still only using one colour at a time. Fabulous textures can also be achieved.
AIMS OF WORKSHOP:
To learn the techniques used to create stacked increases and stacked decreases, and to appreciate the designs that use this technique (mostly designed by Xandy Peters who invented it!). To knit a swatch that gradually builds these techniques through repetition and increasing size of stacking and to understand how the fabric is constructed.
TUTOR’S BACKGROUND:
Kath Andrews lives in North Wales with her wife. She has been knitting since the age of 5 (45+ years) and has been teaching knitters to develop their skills for well over a decade. She also has over 20 years’ experience as a classroom teacher. Kath is a knitwear designer and uses the techniques she teaches in her own designs.
