Woolschool - Fleece Preparation 

Saturday 25th - Sunday 26th April 2026

Time: 1pm – 2.30pm | Places available: 10 | Level of experience required: Suitable for beginners | Tutor: Sharon Smith, Wild Welsh Wool

REQUIREMENTS: Students may like to bring gloves as it will be a greasy job.

DESCRIPTION:

In this workshop we will look at different fleeces and learn how to choose a fleece for the job you need. It will include skirting several fleeces, washing, drying and storing. A raw fleece is included in the course for you to take home, plus a handout on washing.

AIM OF WORKSHOPS:

To give students confidence in selecting fleeces suitable for the job required, skirting and washing.

TUTOR’S BACKGROUND:

Sharon began spinning in 2014, then came tapestry weaving, peg loom weaving and wet felting. The business started in 2017 attending markets and now wool shows, running courses at the farm and online. Sheep farming started in 2016 and a variety of sheep breeds are kept for their fleeces.
