REQUIREMENTS: No equipment needed. Each student will receive a drop spindle, 100g of prepared wool tops and a project bag to take home with them.
DESCRIPTION:
Drop spindling is a simple, portable and inexpensive method of creating yarn to use in knitting, crochet or weaving. But be warned – it can become addictive! Join Sarah’s workshop to learn the basics of drafting fibres from ready prepared wool tops and spinning them into yarn before plying and skeining it.
AIMS OF WORKSHOP:
To learn how to draft wool fibres and spin singles yarn before plying and skeining it.
TUTOR’S BACKGROUND:
Sarah has been spinning for 35 years. She currently sells her handspun yarn at Ewyas Harold Craft Centre, where she also runs regular spinning workshops. Along with her husband, Richard, she runs Hedgehog Equipment, selling carding, spinning and weaving equipment. They have a small hill farm where they breed Hill Radnor sheep and Welsh Black cattle. Sarah is also one of the Directors of Wonderwool Wales.
